Many Christians live their lives, plan their schedules, and use their resources completely disconnected from what they say they believe. Foundations is a DVD study of three foundational Christian truths about God, Jesus, and the Bible and how these truths are to be lived out. This is not just a doctrinal study, but you will be shown how to apply these truths to your everyday life. (Fellowship Hall)Life Ventures: Senior Adults (Greg Umbright, 332-0357)
This class uses the Life Ventures Series, which will be studying New Testament parables and the book of Romans. (Fireside Room)Making Peace With Your Past (Women’s Study) (Patti Pritiken, 334-5126)
This study offers practical, biblically based guidance to lead adults to identify, understand, and come to terms with the feelings and problems of growing up in a dysfunctional family. This class will help you identify ways your past affects you today, understand that other adults have had similar problems and feelings, overcome spiritual and emotional barriers to making peace with yourself and past, experience an atmosphere of trust, honesty, and unconditional love in a small group, and develop a deep sense of hope and healing. (Rm. 114)Renovation of the Heart (Mark Bradley, 332-5015)
We don’t become Christians to stay the way we are. Instead, we are to become more like Jesus every day. How does it happen? It’s a revolution of the heart that transforms your motives and perspectives. During this study by Dallas Willard you will be challenged to not settle for just being a Christian, but you will learn to become like Jesus. (Fellowship Hall)Second Corinthians (Mert Pubols, 334-4249)
An expository teaching and discussion of the book of 2 Corinthians.
(Rm. 110)Thinking Biblically About Government and Politics for Christ's Sake (John Shaheen, 432-5889)
Presidential election buzz is all around us! As Christians and citizens of God's Kingdom, how are we to engage in the world regarding civil authority, government, and politics? How does our political engagement, or lack of it, hinder or enhance our personal witness and the spread of the gospel? How can we apply Biblical wisdom in discerning truth about issues, leaders, and candidates? This is not a class for debating issues and candidates. However, using various resources, participants will be encouraged to evaluate through a biblical filter how they engage in political discourse, or why they avoid it.
